Circling Hours, the first single off the upcoming Larry Goldings album Earthshine, reveals the mind-bending potential of Larry Goldings, a celebrated pianist and organist best best known for his command of the Hammond B3 organ.

“I think the spirit of the record is discovery,” said Goldings. “Discovering new ways into a composition…I hope the listener will sometimes ask, ‘What IS this sound?’ or ‘What what was the process by which this piece came together?’ I like that kind of mystery.

“The bright spot during the pandemic has been my home studio, and the studio of Pete Min. With no touring for what seemed like an endless period, I was able to recreate my childhood basement.”

Goldings, who seriously ramped up his home recording and livestreaming during the pandemic, found his way back to his synthesizers, his electric organs, and virtually everything packed into his small home studio.

"By the time Pete Min and I carved out the time to make a record at his studio, Lucy’s Meat Market, my creative juices were flowing,” he said. “We were both really pumped to make a creative and experimental record."

Goldings said the pandemic allowed his “musical freak flag to fly a little higher,” and the single Circling Hours provides a glimpse into the weird and wonderful sounds of Earthshine, slated for digital release on Nov. 11 and available on vinyl in 2022.
