Mark Guiliana album out Jan 28th
Announcing Mark Guiliana’s latest full-length record, Music For Doing, out Jan 28th on Colorfield Records.
Like all Colorfield releases, Music For Doing was recorded at Lucy’s Meat Market in Eagle Rock, CA, in sessions that emphasized improvisation and sonic exploration. Each song on the record started from a blank slate, only to find its full form by day's end.
Music For Doing is not a typical drum record. While built on an undeniable rhythmic foundation, the songs of Music for Doing are wildly variegated. "Song for Making Things Right," the album's intro track, is a moody tune balancing between scattering drums and a squelchy low end, slowly building to an 80’s inspired synth breakdown. Guiliana’s latest single "Song for Investigating Consciousness" is a wild and winding tune featuring David Binney on sax and Daphne Chen on violin. Unexpected instruments and electronic sonic experiments reign throughout the LP.
