Larry Goldings releases new single “Oort”
After previously sharing "Circling Hours" and "Gospel of Fog", Goldings returns with a new video for "Oort". "Oort" sees Goldings utilizing a variety of different keyboards, including the piano, Lyra-8, analog synths, pocket piano, and pump organ. Set against the backdrop of a Pong game on acid, "Oort" dances between analog and digital divides and produces an eerily beautiful tune.
In the past, Goldings has received acclaim for his skills as a jazz musician, everything from the Grammys (twice nominated), to the New York Times, as co-leader of his longstanding organ trio with Peter Bernstein and Bill Stewart.
But on Earthshine, Goldings stepped out of his comfort zone and created a record unlike anything he's ever done before.
Part of the DNA of Earthshine is Lucy’s Meat Market, a former butcher shop turned into studio based in Eagle Rock, CA. Run by Pete Min, the studio encourages artists to record without thinking and to tap into their subconscious. Randomness and chaos are part of the process and lead to unexpected results. It doesn’t matter if someone doesn’t know how to play drums, keyboards or guitar, Min and the artist are able to edit choice moments to use as part of the composition.
